Sandra Fishlock
The Fishlock family settled in Mataranka, Northern Territory in 1971. In 1987 they built a tourist shop and art gallery. The Stockyard Gallery was awarded the coveted Brolga Award for tourism excellence later on. In 1994 Sandra and her family moved to Emu Park.
Sandra has had no formal training, but has developed her own successful techniques. Although always art and craft oriented she began seriously painting in 1989. Her work in water colours and oils, which until moving to the Capricorn Coast depicted mainly the bush and the creatures, and people in it, is in private collections throughout Australia and numerous overseas countries.
Some years have been devoted to watercolour illustrations of her husband Des’ poetry, resulting in exhibitions "A Brush with a Bard", and self publishing the series in book form. A mobile studio was then created to travel and add to the collection.
Sandra joined The Mill Arts Collective in 2002.
