Margrete Lohne

Margrete was born in Bergen, Norway. She came to Australia in 1987 after cruising the world with her family for several years.

Margrete set up her own studio in Byfield in 1990 and a studio in Norway in 1996. She is currently making earthenware pots with majolica style decoration ad does a few stoneware woodfirings a year.

Her Norwegian background and heritage has always been important to her. The everyday utensils of her heritage were wooden and clay, but their shapes and carved patterns have inspired her woodfired work.

The tropics where she now lives gives her an abundance of inspiration for her majolica decorations.

Margrete has exhibited in Australia and overseas and her work has travelled to many countries around the world.
